Real

As much as yesterday’s photo mortified me to share with you all…. it was real! Not the kind you see on t.v. that has been enhanced. It’s the kind of real that means I have birthed children, I have ate cake and I have done nothing in the world about it…until now. Those were my first 5 pounds. The one I said you would be critiquing and whether you see it or not I knew that I just felt better and why stop now. Be real with yourself if you want to lose 20 pounds and you’re comparing it to the woman in a magazine that has air brushed thighs and cleavage then stop right now and rethink this. I have never had a flat stomach my entire life so why would I now. I just knew at a size 20 when all I had was muffin top and chicken legs looking like Big Bird that any little bit of progress would get me to my ultimate goal. I should have named this one leggings, cause that’s about the only thing that would fit me and then it wasn’t the cute messy bun, baggy sweater, Starbucks in hand photo plastered all over Facebook in the fall. It was more like my spare tire kept rolling my pants down and I would have to pull them up like Urkle. You want real, girl the struggle was real. When you get to a point where you think all hope is gone and you lose your will too do anything about it because society says keto this, paleo that, no carbs…. you become overwhelmed and decide before you ever start that this is too hard. First off girlfriend, nothing worth having is ever easy. Secondly, make small changes and be realistic. My thoughts are way off and I know it. You can go to Chili’s get a quesadilla explosion salad and it has 1,700 calories (More than your whole days worth…IN A SALAD!!!). I look at my options. I could do grilled chicken, blackened salmon, a nice rib-eye and look at the sides if you want sweet potato tell them you would like the butter on the side and for Pete’s sake don’t be like Ben and eat an almost black sweet potato from all the cinnamon and brown sugar. Order steamed vegetables, a side salad. Just be conscious of what you choose. I have never went anywhere that I struggled finding something to eat. How you ask, because I look at everything and decide on what I feel like would be the healthiest alternative. So what I am saying is for one week start looking for healthier alternatives, be aware of the carbs and sugar intake and get back to me with how you feel afterwards. I promise you will feel change.

Born and raised in small town USA Lexington, North Carolina more famously known for our BBQ, where our tea is sweet and our accents are sweeter (Oh yeah and you get that good ice, you know the hospital kind) at all our restaurants. If I was a travel agent I would be sure to disclose that, cause that is a selling point to me for sure. Except now, I am on a permanent vacation living at the coast, married to my wonderful husband (Ben) with three handsome boys (Kaleb, Joshua & Chase), a dog (Baloo) and as of yesterday a new fish (Pete). This journey I am on started out as trying to lose weight and ended up with me finding myself. So if you're ready to laugh, cry with me and probably shake your head at my grammar and punctuation you are more than welcome to join in on my shenanigans. All Aboard!
