I’m not even sure what I should call this one, but it has been weighing heavily on my mind. So many of you (including myself) at one point or another go on a diet. You guestimate hey I need to lose 10 pounds, or I need to fit into that little black dress in 3 weeks for our annual Company party. I can’t tell you how many countless times I scroll through Facebook and someone or another is starting a “diet” or just signed up for the gym. Everyday for a week they make sure to “Check In” so everyone can see that they are there. Those fancy veggie dishes start having their pictures pop up too, like I said I am guilty. But… do you ever notice when it stops? When they are no longer accountable for their actions. When they choose Dairy Queen & Krispy Kreme over there mental and physical happiness and well being. They would rather indulge in food than live a long full life. Some may think that I sound outrageous, but I know people who would rather die of a heart attack or diabetes than enjoy life with their family. People who choose to indulge in their short lived food high. I haven’t figured out the mental state and why some would rather hurt themselves. It’s like any other addiction. You don’t see how it affects your family and friends. How your actions are what your close ones see and you pass them on. If you choose to cook unhealthy and eat on the go all the time or fill your grocery cart with Sun Drop 🤢 then that is what you are teaching your kids is acceptable. I myself at the beginning of my journey decided that I didn’t want my kids to see that, that was normal. I knew that I wasn’t capable of running around after a toddler or playing outside. I chose my family to be my incentive to achieve my goals. So they could grow up and know what healthy is. I would choose that over a weight goal, over a certain pant size, over anything in this world. It takes you to stand up and be the voice for your family, your friends and be their leader, their guide, their support system. WE can overcome obesity and unhealthy lifestyles…one person at a time. So now is the time for YOU to do some soul searching and decide if you value yourself, your family, your personal well being enough to start (and this time their is no label) just change.
