Mother Nature

I haven’t wrote a thing about exercise. Why because I abhor it. I know myself and knew that even if I paid for a membership I would never walk through the doors. The stares, the awkwardness, I am almost positive it is all in my head but why risk putting myself through torture. One day about 2 months in I told Ben I needed a new stroller. He went and bought me a jogger. Now what was my excuse? Absolutely nothing! So I got my lazy booty off the couch and went to steppin. I did baby steps at first.. 1 mile felt like a million, I thought I was going to die (Not really but dang close). You know what?? I really enjoyed it. It became a thing, my thing. I have a routine and I love it. Put little man in the stroller, on days like today Ben tags along and we enjoy nature. Pointing out the flowers, the flags, the birds and hanging out at the park. I may not have the opportunity to go out as much as I would like, but when I do I cherish it. I am making memories, I am teaching my son how to stop and smell the flowers (quite literally), I am pushing myself to see how far I can go. What can I accomplish? I have this quote that stays in the back of my mind, “She believed she could, so she did”. And I am! Maybe not at a the rate some do, maybe I could have hit the gym and toned up… Who knows. But what I do know is I found out what I enjoyed and I stuck with it and it turned itself into quality family time, which in my house is rare and I love it.

Born and raised in small town USA Lexington, North Carolina more famously known for our BBQ, where our tea is sweet and our accents are sweeter (Oh yeah and you get that good ice, you know the hospital kind) at all our restaurants. If I was a travel agent I would be sure to disclose that, cause that is a selling point to me for sure. Except now, I am on a permanent vacation living at the coast, married to my wonderful husband (Ben) with three handsome boys (Kaleb, Joshua & Chase), a dog (Baloo) and as of yesterday a new fish (Pete). This journey I am on started out as trying to lose weight and ended up with me finding myself. So if you're ready to laugh, cry with me and probably shake your head at my grammar and punctuation you are more than welcome to join in on my shenanigans. All Aboard!

  1. LOVE this !!!! I love to go to the “gym” ….we started with baby steps the hubby and I. But to tell you the truth I would rather do baby steps than those programs some people sell ya. You know the ones where they say come on in and join our group and we will whip you into shape in no time blah blah blah! We walk track 12 laps which is a mile then we hit the pool and do about 30 minutes of what we call our water exercises. Whatever anyone does it just get started and keep doing whatever ya do. Bad habits (for me and hubby fast food when we are out on a job) are hard to break. For my mind replace bad with good. I love what we do and we do together but I could do this also alone when he can’t make it with me to exercise. I am so proud of you and thankful that you share and encourage and LIVE IT!!!! Keep on keeping on Girlie!!!
