Move

I have to admit between the humidity and the skeeters I have been slack on walking…but boy do I miss it. I found my happy place last year about 15 minutes away in a little coastal town called Southport. It is the epitome of nostalgia and I fell in love. All the years I have lived here and never took the time to just go and enjoy what’s right in my backyard. So this morning we loaded up and went walking. It’s like an instant endorphin boost and I felt so great afterwards. We stopped by the pumpkin patch and let Chase choose his very own, we found a hidden nature trail where the garden club sponsors a butterfly garden, watched the sailboats go by and stopped for playground time and smoothies. Exercise to me is not something you should dread or you wouldn’t do it in the first place. All those baby steps and personal achievements I reached also held memories that we made along the way. So many of us think the only way is through a gym. Which is not true. Find something that you love. Whether Zumba, karate, jogging, swimming, yoga…whatever it is let it be where you find peace and pleasure. For us I am blessed because Ben loves to go along for the ride and we always find joy in the little things. Plus walking is free and I love free! No membership required, just dedication.

Born and raised in small town USA Lexington, North Carolina more famously known for our BBQ, where our tea is sweet and our accents are sweeter (Oh yeah and you get that good ice, you know the hospital kind) at all our restaurants. If I was a travel agent I would be sure to disclose that, cause that is a selling point to me for sure. Except now, I am on a permanent vacation living at the coast, married to my wonderful husband (Ben) with three handsome boys (Kaleb, Joshua & Chase), a dog (Baloo) and as of yesterday a new fish (Pete). This journey I am on started out as trying to lose weight and ended up with me finding myself. So if you're ready to laugh, cry with me and probably shake your head at my grammar and punctuation you are more than welcome to join in on my shenanigans. All Aboard!
