Temptation

This is a hard one for me. You would think over time it would have become easier and it has, but girl is it still there. Temptation, the one word- feeling that stays no matter how much self-control you have. I started out great, 100% gung-ho and on track then bam my sweet tooth came back and I had no clue how to manage it. I looked up and tried all these cheats I saw on Pinterest. Example, if you crave chocolate eat a banana. Um no, if I wanted a banana I would have just ate one. Come on now! Whoever wrote those post have obviously never ate Ben & Jerry’s half baked ice cream. So I ventured out and tried new things and although I normally would have turned my nose up and scoffed at the idea of zucchini chocolate chip banana bread, it has become one of my faves. I don’t stand behind the motto “In moderation”. Simply because your body gets a taste of something that taste good and your brain won’t let it go. So my message for the day is, “Say NO to drugs”. Sugar is a drug. It gets you high on dopamine and gives you a short lived feel good moment. When that time passes you are right back to where you started. So besides putting your body through that, be kind and say no. As time flies by I promise you won’t miss it. I remember clear as day leaving Starbucks last fall and Ben had gotten one of my old favorites, Pumpkin Spice. He said just take a swig and I did. I’m sure I made a gurgling, obnoxious sound cause I spit it out. I couldn’t even bring myself to swallow it. Who waste that kind of money, thats what 50 cent in Mermaid cash. Two lessons I learnt that day. Don’t give in to peer pressure (This is where NO comes in) and I had trained my body too not like sugar. Now, as I write this my fridge is stocked with Sugar-Free Pumpkin Spice creamer so yea I still get my fix, but in a much healthier way. It takes your body 60 days to lose a craving. That may seem like a lifetime but think back to the last 2 months and how fast time flew by. Y’all got this! Im telling you if I, me, the Queen of anything ice cream related with all its sweetness can overcome this, you can too.

Born and raised in small town USA Lexington, North Carolina more famously known for our BBQ, where our tea is sweet and our accents are sweeter (Oh yeah and you get that good ice, you know the hospital kind) at all our restaurants. If I was a travel agent I would be sure to disclose that, cause that is a selling point to me for sure. Except now, I am on a permanent vacation living at the coast, married to my wonderful husband (Ben) with three handsome boys (Kaleb, Joshua & Chase), a dog (Baloo) and as of yesterday a new fish (Pete). This journey I am on started out as trying to lose weight and ended up with me finding myself. So if you're ready to laugh, cry with me and probably shake your head at my grammar and punctuation you are more than welcome to join in on my shenanigans. All Aboard!
